SLUB COTTON

Slub cotton gets its name from the slubs, the small, irregular thickenings that appear naturally along the yarn during hand-spinning. Machine-spun cotton is engineered to be uniform. Slub cotton isn't, and that's the point. Every raised thread in the weave comes from the hand of the person spinning it, which means no two lengths of fabric behave quite the same way under light or against skin.

At Indidha, every slub cotton saree comes from one of our weaver partners, not a factory line. The fabric measures 5.5 meters with a running blouse piece included, unstitched, so you can tailor it to your own fit. The texture that makes slub cotton distinctive also makes it breathable and forgiving in daily wear, which is why it works as easily for an office day as it does for a weekend visit home.

If you're comparing slub against other cotton weaves before deciding, our guide on types of cotton sarees in India breaks down how slub, mul, and khadi differ in weight and finish. For styling ideas that work specifically for a workday, see our office wear saree and blouse guide.

Care is straightforward: hand wash in cold water, dry in shade to protect the natural tone, and avoid wringing the fabric, which can strain the slub threads. Iron on the reverse side to keep the texture intact.
